Few reinterpretations of classic supercars manage to walk the line between heritage and innovation quite like this one: meet the 273 Potenza, an eye-catching custom creation inspired by Ferrari’s iconic 288 GTO.
It may look like something straight out of Maranello’s skunkworks team, but it’s actually a bespoke build based on the Ferrari F8 Tributo brought to life by independent coachbuilder Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT).
You might recall the name as it was the same group of people behind the stunning Lancia Stratos revival, a project that also blended heritage with modern engineering. Although MAT’s take on the Ferrari was first shown a couple of years ago, the one-off hasn’t really gotten the recognition it deserves.

To us, the F8 Tributo already looks great and is arguably better looking than the 296 GTB that replaced it. Remarkably, Manifattura Automobili Torino, partnered with ZeroACento Automobili, somehow managed to make the F8 look even better.
It starts with the body, now sporting all-new panels made from lightweight carbon fiber with a seductive red tint. That’s something you only normally see from hypercar manufacturers like Pagani and Koenigsegg.
Retro Inspiration, Modern Execution

Up front, the 273 Potenza is all-new. It includes four square-shaped LED daytime running lights on the striking new bumper and rocks a bespoke hood with large air extraction vents. Adding to the retro vibe of the car are stunning five-spoke star-shaped wheels with red centerlocks.
Incredibly, the rear might look even better than the front. The familiar F8 Tributo taillights are still there, but there’s now a custom engine cover, quarter panels, diffuser, and bumper, all crafted from dark red carbon fiber. There’s even a lightweight titanium exhaust.
Interior Details and Engine Upgrades
Plenty of changes were also made to the Ferrari’s interior. The most obvious upgrade is the completely redesigned transmission tunnel, which now includes a new gear selector. The dashboard has also been customized to look more reminiscent of the one from the 288 GTO, and now even includes a unique set of controls for the HVAC.
Performance hasn’t been overlooked either. The car’s 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 has been upgraded to produce more than 800 horsepower. It’s a fitting match for the design’s dramatic styling, and while it’s tempting to wonder how Ferrari might have handled an official 288 GTO tribute, it’s hard to imagine it turning out much better than this.
