• Suzuki launched a limited edition of the Jimny XL in Australia.
  • The Rhino Edition adds custom trim and a crate of branded gear.
  • It is the country’s most expensive Jimny ever, starting at AU$44,990.

Suzuki has rolled out a limited run of the Jimny XL in Australia, the “Rhino Special Edition”, and it’s the priciest Jimny the country has ever seen. The little off-roader gains a unique exterior spec and a handful of cabin upgrades, but the real centerpiece is the “Rhino Go Pack” and the pile of branded merchandise that comes with it.

Unlike the earlier Rhino Edition sold in Malaysia, the Australian version starts with the five-door Jimny XL. Gloss Black and Satin Aluminum stripe decals run along the profile, joined by the rhino graphics that give the car its name. It also rides on a new set of 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and adds mud flaps, a black hex grille with Suzuki lettering, plus aluminum-style skid plates and side skirts.

The model is exclusively available in a Kinetic Yellow shade with a Pearl Black roof. This color was previously limited to the three-door Jimny in Australia with the exception of Queensland. Note that the five-door Jimny XL is manufactured in India while the three-door Jimny is imported from Japan.

Open a door and the Rhino theme continues, with badges on the dash, Satin Silver trim, and black leather inserts stitched in Kinetic Yellow and stamped with etched Rhino logos.

Manual cars get a retro gearknob, and every example adds a hardier luggage mat, footwell lighting in eight colors, and upgraded Pioneer speakers up front. The carryover kit from the standard XL covers a 9-inch infotainment screen, cloth seats, and a leather-wrapped wheel.

The special edition skips any performance or chassis upgrades over the regular Jimny XL, so it carries over the same naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder making 101 hp (75 kW / 102 PS). The engine pairs with the AllGrip Pro 4WD system, with a choice of manual or automatic gearbox.

Accessories And A Chocolate Box

The “Rhino Go Pack” is aimed at Jimny owners who like their adventures outdoors. The kit bundles a metal key case and keychain, a bucket hat, a portable lantern, a drink bottle, a blanket, a thermos tumbler, a cooler box, and a portable Bluetooth speaker, every piece carrying the Rhino emblem.

As a finishing touch, Suzuki threw in a Koko Black Dark Chocolate Pistachio praline box with nine pieces, tucked inside a Rhino-branded sleeve. Unfortunately, Australian buyers don’t get access to the Jimny-themed vegetarian curry meal sold in Japan.

A Premium Price

Predictably, the Rhino Special Edition sits at the very top of the Australian lineup in terms of pricing. More specifically, it costs AU$ 44,990 (US$ 31,800) with the manual gearbox and AU$ 47,990 (US$ 33,900) with the automatic, representing an increase of AU$ 10,000 (US$ 7,100) compared to the standard Jimny XL.

Suzuki will build the Rhino Special Edition in limited numbers and says buyer interest is already strong, despite the higher price. It’s available to order across Australia now, except in Queensland and Northern Rivers, NSW, which are handled by another distributor.
