• New Corvette Grand Sport will debut in Admiral Blue with stripes.
  • Power will come from GM’s new naturally aspirated 6.7-liter V8.
  • Chevrolet expects the new trim to be the best-selling C8 model.

The Corvette lineup is about to welcome back a familiar nameplate with a reputation for striking the right balance. Expected for the 2027 model year, the Grand Sport is set to return, and if a recent sighting in California is any indication, Chevrolet might be preparing something special.

A completely undisguised prototype appears to have been caught in the wild during a sunset shoot, suggesting the Grand Sport’s comeback isn’t far off.

An Instagram user going by njp_moto was driving along Angeles Crest Highway when they encountered two C8 Corvettes parked beside the road, accompanied by a cluster of support vehicles. The scene looked unmistakably like a production shoot. Among the two cars, one stood out.

The standout model is finished in Admiral Blue, a rich, saturated tone that returns for 2027. First introduced on the C4 Corvette Grand Sport, Admiral Blue later became the signature color for the C7 generation.

On this C8, the color returns with a nod to tradition. Classic red stripes, seen in earlier Grand Sports, are also present, though this time they’ve shifted from the front quarter panels to the rear quarters.

Look closely, and you’ll notice the car also has a large rear lip spoiler and the same centrally-positioned tailpipes as the current Z06 and ZR1.

It’s not just the retro-theme of the new Corvette Grand Sport that will get enthusiasts excited. All signs point towards it premiering with Chevy’s latest small-block V8, set to be called the LS6.

This new naturally-aspirated V8 will displace 6.7 liters in the ‘Vette, the equivalent of 409 cubic inches. It’s expected to use both direct and port fuel injection, producing roughly 550 horsepower. That output would place the Grand Sport squarely between the Stingray and the 655-hp hybrid E-Ray in Chevrolet’s performance lineup.

Chevrolet reportedly expects the new Grand Sport to be the best-selling model in the C8 range. As the Stingray starts at $70,000, and the E-Ray is priced from $108,600, the carmaker has plenty of room to position the Grand Sport, and will likely sell it for somewhere between $85,000 and $100,000.
