- Ford is giving its customers access to the onX suite of apps.
- This includes onX Offroad, which has over 650,000 miles of trails.
- The company has also launched a new off-road video series.
GPS navigation has transformed how we drive and has largely relegated paper maps to the dustbin of history. However, navigation systems are primarily designed for on-road use, so off-roaders might see little more than a dot in the middle of nowhere.
Ford owners won’t have to worry about that as the Blue Oval has struck a new partnership with onX. Starting today, owners of 2017 and newer models will receive one year of complimentary access to the full suite of onX apps.

They can be used on your phone or on your vehicle’s display via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. If you’re going somewhere extremely remote, you can even download off-road maps ahead of time to ensure you always know where you’re going.
The real highlight is the onX Offroad app, which provides access to more than 650,000 miles (1,046,074 km) of trails. Users can also see difficulty ratings, descriptions, and photos to help them pick the best trails for their vehicle and skill level.
onX Backcountry encourages you to explore the great outdoors with over 1 million miles (1,609,344 km) of hiking and biking trails, ski routes, and climbing areas. There are also onX Fish and onX Hunt apps, which are pretty self-explanatory.
To take advantage of the offer, customers can open the Ford app and click on the onX Elite membership banner. They can also visit onxmaps.com/ford.
While the app access is a nice bonus for owners, the offer expires on December 22, 2028. Customers also have to hand over their credit card information, and “memberships will automatically renew until cancelled.”
New Video Series
In other off-road news, Ford is launching a new series called Chasing Off-Road Confidence. It stars influencer Chase Gentry and follows him as he “uncovers trails all over the country” in a variety of Ford vehicles.
The first episode starts as an overly forced commercial for the onX partnership and Explorer Tremor. Thankfully, things get better from there as the video eventually finds its groove and provides some basic off-road tips.
