• Ram’s value-focused heavy duty trucks have been a hit.
  • Brand received a flood of orders for Black Express and Warlock.
  • Both are affordable and based on the entry-level Tradesman.

After a few rough years, Ram is back and firing on all eight-cylinders. The return of the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 led the charge as the company received more than 10,000 orders in the first 24 hours.

That was an impressive feat, but the company isn’t resting on their laurels as they’ve been pumping out an impressive number of new trims and special editions. Among them are the 2500 Black Express and Warlock, which have been a hit with fans.

Speaking at the unveiling of the 2027 ProMaster City in Detroit, Ram officials said the trucks received a year’s worth of orders in the first month. The company is now working to increase capacity to help keep up with demand.

Their success shouldn’t be too surprising as they’re both value-focused models based on the entry-level Tradesman. The Black Express ditches the workday aesthetic as it features body-color bumpers and a matching grille surround. The Trademan’s 17-inch steelies have also been replaced by a set of 20-inch alloy wheels with a black finish.

The upgrades don’t end there as the model has a sport performance hood and tubular side steps. Buyers will also find a nicer interior with cloth bench seats and carpeted flooring.

Pricing starts at $53,070 before a $2,595 destination fee. This means it’s affordable for a heavy duty full-size truck, but doesn’t look or feel cheap.

The 2500 Warlock goes in a ruggedly different direction as it comes standard with four-wheel drive and 20-inch wheels wrapped in 34-inch Goodyear Duratrac all-terrain tires. The truck also has an anti-spin rear differential, a transfer case skid plate, Bilstein shocks, and Hill Descent Control.

They’re joined by black accents, tow mirrors, and an upgraded interior with cloth seats, carpeting, and all-weather floor mats. Not bad considering pricing starts at $56,400.

While supplies are tight, a quick search reveals dealers have over 100 Warlocks in stock. Many carry sizable discounts, so don’t fret if you didn’t get an early order in.

That being said, Ram has a lot of other great stuff in the pipeline including the return of the TRX. It will be joined by revised a Power Wagon, which will be offered with a turbodiesel engine.
