- The Subaru Crosstrek Gains a new special edition in Japan.
- The Limited Black adds dark exterior and interior accents.
- Pricing is identical to the standard mild-hybrid Limited trim.
Subaru has broadened the Crosstrek lineup in Japan with a new “Limited Black” special edition that leans into darker styling and adds navigation. It looks the part, but underneath, it sticks with the mild-hybrid 2.0-liter e-Boxer rather than stepping up to the more advanced 2.5-liter S:HEV.
The name doesn’t leave much to the imagination. This version swaps out the usual brightwork for blacked-out trim across the grille, fog light surrounds, mirror caps, and roof spoiler. The 18-inch alloys get a darker metallic finish, and notably, the roof rails have been deleted. The result is a cleaner, slightly more planted look that edges closer to an Impreza in attitude.

Even though the images show the Crystal Black Silica, buyers aren’t locked into a monochrome theme. The Limited Black can still be ordered in seven other exterior colors, should you want the darker trim without committing to full blackout mode.
Moving inside, we find Gray/Black fabric tricot upholstery for the seats, a leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob with silver stitching and Blaze Gunmetal accents, and a black finish for the roof and pillars. Finally, standard equipment has been improved with the addition of navigation.

Under the hood, the Limited Black uses the 2.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-four engine paired with a mild-hybrid system. The combustion engine produces 143 hp (107 kW / 145 PS) and the electric motor contributes another 13 hp (10 kW). Power is sent to either the front wheels or all four via Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD and the Lineartronic CVT gearbox.
Pricing for the Subaru Crosstrek Limited Black in Japan starts at ¥3,234,000 (equal to $20,300 at current rates) for the FWD model and ¥3,448,500 ($21,600) for the AWD. That matches the standard Limited trim exactly, effectively making the black styling package and added navigation a no-cost upgrade.
