- Lexus is working on an updated version of its best-seller.
- It combines exterior revisions with a new infotainment system.
- The facelifted crossover could debut next year as a 2028 model.
Spy photographers recently snapped the first photos of the facelifted Lexus NX and now they’ve caught an updated RX. Spied near the Nürburgring, the prototype hints at some minor changes for the brand’s best-selling vehicle.
Despite wearing a camouflaged front end, the crossover appears virtually identical to the current model. However, the disguise suggests we can expect a revised grille and an updated fascia.

Since this is an early prototype, we wouldn’t be surprised to see more extensive changes later on. These could include updated wheels, a revised rump, and freshened lighting units.

Spy photographers didn’t get a good look inside, but the RX is rumored to adopt an updated interior that echoes the one found on the redesigned ES and all-new TZ. If this pans out, we can expect a minimalist dashboard with streamlined switchgear and a new infotainment system.
The latter features a rectangular 14-inch display and improved responsiveness thanks to increased computing power. The system also offers greater personalization, a new quick control menu, an improved voice assistant, and new features such as a drive recorder.

Besides the modernized infotainment system, we can expect a series of other small tweaks. The familiar “L” steering wheel will likely be replaced by an all-new one featuring “LEXUS” lettering and an edgier design. We also wouldn’t be surprised to find a stubby new shifter and updated trim.
Powertrain details are more mysterious, but the current crossover offers a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder that develops 275 hp (205 kW / 279 PS) and 317 lb-ft (429 Nm) of torque. Customers can also get hybrids with 246 hp (183 kW / 249 PS) and 366 hp (273 kW / 371 PS). There’s also an RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid, which has 304 hp (227 kW / 308 PS) and an electric-only range of 38 miles (61 km).
