• The car has more torque and bespoke front and rear suspension.
  • Toyota has also tweaked the steering and all-wheel drive system.
  • The GRMN Corolla will be sold exclusively with a six-speed manual.

The Toyota GR Corolla is already one of the most exciting hot hatches on the market, and it’s just become even more potent. This is the new GRMN Corolla, an even more focused version that won’t only be sold in Japan, but will also be available in North America and Australia, produced in limited quantities.

Toyota honed the new car extensively at the Nurburgring and in Japan’s Super Taikyu Series, with an aggressive aerodynamic package immediately making it stand out. Key changes include a new duct on the hood, louvers on the front quarter panels, and a tweaked front bumper with some subtle aero fins. At the rear, there’s an enlarged rear wing that offers five levels of adjustment in 1-degree increments.

Engineers have also developed bespoke front and rear shocks for the GRMN Corolla, complete with new springs to further improve the hatch’s already-exceptional handling abilities. The car also comes equipped with stickier Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, measuring 245/40 at all four corners, making them 10 mm wider than the standard car. There are also new forged matte bronze wheels.

Engine Upgrades

Alterations have been made to the electric power steering and all-wheel-drive system, improving rear torque distribution and enhancing stability during high-speed driving. Put simply, the new GRMN Corolla is even better at going fast, whether that is on a racetrack or on a mountain road.

Power continues to come from Toyota’s superb 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder, which delivers 300 hp. However, torque has been increased marginally from 295 lb-ft to 302 lb-ft (415 Nm). Like the 2026 GR Yaris, the GRMN Corolla also includes an intercooler spray system. Various weight-saving measures have also been implemented, including removing the rear seats and adding a carbon fiber hood, resulting in 66 lbs (30 kg) in savings.

New Seats And Alcantara

Inside, the hot hatch features new bucket seats made from glass fiber-reinforced polymer. There are also several new carbon fiber accents and an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel with a red 12 o’clock marker. Toyota will exclusively sell the GRMN Corolla with a six-speed manual transmission.

Market-specific pricing details have yet to be announced. Soon, Toyota will follow up the GRMN Corolla with the new Corolla Morizo RR, benefitting from many of the same upgrades but set to be sold with the eight-speed automatic transmission, rather than the stick shift.
