The shaky truce between the United States and Iran has seemingly fallen apart as the American military struck over 80 targets in response to Iran’s attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Additional strikes are occurring as of this writing, and President Trump has said the ceasefire is “over.”
Oil prices have jumped in response to renewed hostilities, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped nearly 600 points. The national average price of gasoline has also ticked up to $3.78 per gallon.

Amid this background, the White House has announced the mysterious “Freedom Fuel Network.” The first station opened in Philadelphia recently and is selling gas for $3.47 per gallon to honor the 47th President.
The accompanying video comes off as state-sponsored propaganda, complete with praise for President Trump and a reference to “fake news,” but the Freedom Fuel Network lists 25 gas stations on the East Coast. Many of them are in Pennsylvania, but five are located in New Jersey.
The website doesn’t say who is behind the Freedom Fuel Network or how they’re able to sell gas so cheap, but a White House spokesperson told CBS News that the company is a private entity. They went on to claim the Trump administration is not involved with the Freedom Fuel Network and say they’re not subsidizing low gasoline prices.
Instead, the White House suggested the group was able to lower prices by reducing their profit margin. That still leaves plenty of questions, but the cheap gas likely won’t last long given the war in Iran is back on.
