Bowler Formalizes its Partnership with Land Rover, Hints at More Production Models

Bowler, the British maker of the crazy EXR rally car and EXR S road car has finally formalized its long-standing relationship with Land Rover.

The company started out 25 years ago by building racing cars for events like the Rally Dakar and Baja 1000 based on Land Rover powertrain components.

After four generation of racing models, Bowler’s newly sealed agreement will provide the brand with direct access to Land Rover’s engineering facilities and a more structured approach to parts supply and procurement.

The new partnership will focus on the EXR rally car as well as Bowler’s street-legal EXR-S, both of which use a modified version of the Range Rover Sport chassis and 5.0-litre V8 engine.

In particular, the EXR uses a FIA-restricted naturally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8 engine, while the EXR S makes use of a 550bhp version of the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 lump.

Drew Bowler, Managing Director of Bowler said he was extremely pleased with the announcement while also hinting at the production of more future road-going models.

“We’re delighted to announce this partnership, which brings very positive benefits to both Bowler and Land Rover,” said Bowler. “We’ve only ever used Land Rover powertrains, and this relationship will give us access to current Land Rover technologies, and a great platform from which to support our racing activities and develop future models.”
