Ford’s new Mustang Bullitt, which pays homage to the 1968 movie starring Steve McQueen, is based on the GT version of the muscle car, to which it adds a special green color, larger wheels, and some chrome detailing.
It also gets a few extra horses out of that 5.0-liter V8, which now pushes out 460 PS (454 hp / 338 kW) and 529 Nm (390 lb-ft) of torque in the Euro-spec version and goes from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds.
The Blue Oval has also worked its magic in other parts, such as the new exhaust system that enhances the V8’s soundtrack. So, these extra bits should make quite the difference compared to the standard V8-powered Mustang. But does it justify its £50,000 ($63,758/€55,590) price tag in the United Kingdom?

AutoExpress traveled to the Isle of Man to put the Bullitt through its paces. And right from the start, the reviewer proclaimed the steering to be pretty good, with some feel coming through it, the brakes a bit sharp and the gearbox great, although somewhat meaty and old school.
There is, apparently, some chassis movement while cornering at high speeds. However, everything is easily controlled, so drivers won’t be afraid to push it hard every now and then.
Obviously, there is no Porsche 911 refinement in the Mustang Bullitt, but muscle car fans, and those who remember some lines of the famous movie and can afford it, should look no further than Ford’s closest dealership.
