A YouTuber has filmed the aftermath of his prized 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51 going up in flames somewhere in the United States.

The near-5-minute long video doesn’t provide any context about what happened but footage shows the gloss black Corvette engulfed in flames shortly after the driver jumped out and parked to the side of a road next to a large field of grass.

In fires of this kind, it is usually easy to tell roughly where the blaze originated from but that’s not the case here. When the video starts, most of the flames seem to be centered around the interior and the rear of the American sports car, not the engine bay as one may expect. One possible explanation for this is that the fire may have started near the fuel tank directly behind the passenger compartment but that’s purely speculation on our part. We are not fire investigators (in case you couldn’t tell…).

What we can say for sure is that watching a beautiful C7 Corvette go up in flames like this is a very sad sight to see. The C7 may be quite old by industry standards but it is still one of the best sports cars for the money currently on sale. The owner refers to the car as his “baby” so he was obviously quite attached to it.

Fire crews were able to arrive on the scene relatively quickly but by the time the inferno was extinguished, the sports car was left a molten mess and had to be trucked off on a trailer.
