Volkswagen took the wraps off the all-new Jetta in Detroit this week. And that’s all well and fine, but what enthusiasts want to know is what the performance variant will look like. And this is probably pretty close.

Rendered by X-Tomi is what’s billed as a Jetta GTI, but as VW enthusiasts know, those aren’t the letters that the hot version of the Jetta wears. GLI are.

Regardless of what it’s called, this speculative rendering adopts new wheels, bumpers, black roof, red-trimmed honeycomb grille, and other hot-Veedub fixins.

It looks pretty convincing to our eyes, but we’ll have to wait to see what Volkswagen comes up with for the actual Jetta GLI… and more to the point, of what sort of performance it will be capable.

The outgoing model, for what it’s worth, packs a 2.0-liter turbo four good for 210 horsepower and nearly as many pound-feet of torque, but sadly did away with the manual for its final year on the market.
