Fast wagons are special since they allow owners to blend practicality and performance in a single vehicle. The Nissan Stagea 260RS Autech is a perfect, albeit rare example of exactly that. Now, one is going across the auction block in California and it’s already got a US title.
That’s especially interesting since the Stagea was never sold here in the United States. It’s only allowed to be here because it’s now over 25 years old but instead of going through the hassle of finding one and importing it, somebody has already done that work and now, you can benefit from their labor. . Of course, you’ll need to adapt to the fact that the steering wheel is on the opposite side of what you’re accustomed to, but that’s a small price to pay.

The Stagea model is basically a Skyline wagon that Nissan sold until 2007. While many think of the Skyline as only the GT-R, there were a number of far less powerful models including sedans and wagons like the Stagea. This one though, the 260RS Autech is special for a number of reasons that all link directly to the GT-R itself.
Most importantly, the 260RS Autech shares the exact same drivetrain as the GT-R. That includes the RB26DETT, a manual transmission, and all-wheel drive. Famously, this engine is factory-rated at 276 hp (205 kW) but it’s likely quite a bit higher than that. This particular version of the Stagea is the only one that can claim this power plant and drivetrain and it gets other special bits too.
The brakes are bigger and feature Brembo calipers. The body kit is unique to this version and on this car is still intact. Under the hood, a strut tower brace improves chassis rigidity. Special 17-inch Stagea wheels sit at every corner and this one still has them. Don’t forget that there’s a giant wing at the rear of the car too.
Nissan only made about 1,734 of these and now this one can be yours. It’s up for auction over on Cars & Bids right now and as of this writing is up to $22,472. We expect that it’ll trade hands for considerably more than that.
