TOM’s Racing is best known for customizing and upgrading some of the finest Japanese sports cars, but it’s also no stranger to working its magic on SUVs and off-roaders. Its latest project has focused on the current Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, also known as the 250, morphing it into a striking Urban Off-Roader.

Now, let’s talk about the Land Cruiser itself. While it’s undeniably capable of handling tough, off-road terrain, some of these vehicles will spend more time cruising the pavement than tackling rugged trails. So, in typical TOM’s Racing fashion, they’ve outfitted it with a new front bumper that looks meaner but likely cuts down a bit on the approach angle. Not that it’ll bother anyone who’s not planning on scaling boulders anytime soon.

This new bumper extends slightly lower than the normal one and makes the front of the Land Cruiser look more imposing. The Japanese tuning outfit has also added new side steps, complemented by flared front and rear wheel arches that are filled by wider aftermarket 20-inch wheels and tires.

Joining the bodywork upgrades is an available stainless steel exhaust system. Customers can also add performance-focused brake pads and several TOM’s Racing emblems as well as floor mats. Most of TOM’s Racing parts are available for all versions of the Land Cruiser but, unfortunately, they are unlikely to be sold anywhere other than Japan.

There are, however, other accessories available for the Prado from other brands, including Toyota’s own Modellista. Its take on the 4×4 is a little more restrained than TOM’s Racing, offering an upgraded front bumper guard, rear bumper garnish, flared fenders, side moldings, a rear bumper step guard, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a pronounced roof spoiler.
