- Theon Design rebuilt a Porsche 964 into a 420 hp restomod.
- It features an air-cooled 4.0-liter flat-six with 324 lb-ft.
- Power-to-weight beats the 911 GT3 RS, and it’s rear-drive.
Singer may have lit the fuse on the restomod Porsche movement, but it’s no longer the only name breathing new life into classic 911s. Theon Design, based in the UK, has steadily carved out a reputation as one of the standout specialists in the field. Its latest commission is proof of that progress.
At first glance, it looks understated, almost reserved. Underneath, though, it’s anything but.

Theon has fitted a new air-cooled 4.0-liter flat-six, pumping out 420 hp at 7,600 rpm and 324 lb-ft of torque. This engine now includes independent throttle bodies for superb response and even has open engine trumpets. It should sound absolutely incredible.
That power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. To keep everything in check, Theon has installed custom-calibrated TracTive semi-active dampers along with brake components lifted from a 993-generation Porsche 911 Carrera RS. Filling out the arches are a set of handsome 17-inch Fuchs-style wheels wrapped in fresh Michelin rubber.
The build starts with a full strip-down of the donor 964 to its bare shell. From there, Theon reinforces the chassis with additional seam welding and replaces the body panels with lightweight composite pieces. The result is finished in Medium Ivory paint, contrasted by Grand Prix White stripes, and protected by a full PPF wrap.
Thanks to its carbon-heavy construction, this reimagined 911 comes in at just 1,150 kg (2,535 lbs). That puts its power-to-weight ratio ahead of the current 911 GT3 RS, which is no small feat.
Inside, the changes are just as meticulous. Carbon-backed Recaro CS seats are wrapped in Tobacco nubuck leather, stitched in Ivory to mirror the exterior detailing. Gone are the plastic switchgear components, replaced by custom-machined aluminum pieces that bring a sense of weight and permanence.
The rear seats have made way for a carbon fiber storage compartment, and the audio system has been upgraded to a six-speaker Focal setup powered by an Audison amplifier.
Bespoke commissions like this one start at £420,000 (about $530,000 at current exchange rates), and each takes around 18 months to complete. As ever, the price of perfection isn’t just in the parts but in the time it takes to get there.
