- Zeekr 8X uses a turbo engine with three electric motors.
- Two battery sizes offered 55.1 kWh and a larger 70 kWh pack.
- Flagship 8X version reportedly makes up to 1,381 horsepower.
The onslaught of new models from the Geely-owned Zeekr brand shows no signs of abating. Not only has its mid-size 7X proven itself to be one of the best electric SUVs on sale, but the flagship 9X offers hypercar levels of power in a luxurious , high-end package.
Zeekr’s next model will be the 8X. As its name implies, it’ll be positioned between the 7X and 9X and will be available in at least two versions, including a sporty one. Recent images published by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology provide an unobstructed view of its design.

In standard guise, the 8X takes obvious design inspiration from its larger sibling, rocking a Rolls-Royce-inspired chrome grille. It also features lobster-claw-shaped headlights and an aggressive lower front bumper.
Separate images of the sport version show it with a unique black front grille, black wheels, orange brake calipers, and a spoiler extending from the roof. In addition, it includes a bolder rear diffuser and a bumper with large red reflectors. Both variants appear to have the same wraparound LED taillights and light bar.
We expect the standard 8X to follow in the footsteps of the 9X, adopting a plug-in hybrid powertrain rather than an EV. A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder will work in conjunction with battery packs offered in 55.1 kWh and 70 kWh configurations, as well as three electric motors. China’s Autohome reports there will be as much as 1,381 hp on tap on the flagship model, matching the 9X.
It’s not known whether the sporty version shown in some images will benefit from any powertrain upgrades, or if it will simply be an optional appearance package, but the latter seems more likely.
All Zeekr models have well-equipped interiors with high-end materials and solid fit and finish, so we expect nothing less from the 8X. While it’s unlikely to match some of the features of the larger and more expensive 9X, there’ll no doubt be an abundance of screens as well as options for five- and six-seat configurations.
