Singer has officially revealed the Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, expanding its modern homage to the air cooled era with an open top counterpart to last year’s Coupe. Inspired by the wide body 911s of the 1980s, this latest commission blends retro cues with modern engineering, the sort that rewards a closer look the longer you spend with it.

Stunning Looks

Starting with the exterior design, Singer showcased two different commissions, a Pacific Blue Touring specification and a Guards Red Sport specification. In both cases, the bodywork is crafted from carbon fiber, complete with swollen fenders and pop up auxiliary lights set into the hood, a nod to period competition cars.

The red 911 features a more aggressive front bumper with larger intakes and a deeper splitter, paired with a fixed whale tail wing at the rear. By contrast, the blue Porsche adopts a subtler approach, specified with an active rear spoiler, a touring style splitter, and white finished 18 inch center lock alloy wheels.

Inside, one combines Ink leather upholstery for the lightweight track seats with red accents, while the other has sports seats wrapped in Tangerine leather. Both examples feature stitched and burnished leather seams.

In typical Singer fashion, the 911 Carrera Cabriolet receives hand built gauges, new dashboard trim, and a reworked three spoke steering wheel that feels faithful to the era without being trapped by it. Modern air conditioning, navigation, and Apple CarPlay complete the interior upgrades.

Finally, the convertible roof introduces a lightweight Z pattern folding mechanism designed to maintain a sleek profile whether raised or stowed. Even at rest, the silhouette remains carefully resolved, avoiding the bulk that often compromises open top 911s.

Naturally-Aspirated Heart

At the heart of the build sits a naturally aspirated 4.0 liter flat six developed by Cosworth. It delivers 420 hp (313 kW / 426 PS) and 450 Nm (332 lb ft) of torque, mirroring the output of the Coupe. The engine revs to over 8,000 rpm, and benefits from variable valve timing, water-cooled cylinder heads, air-cooled cylinders, and an electrically powered fan.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six speed manual gearbox, available with an exposed mechanism for those who appreciate seeing the hardware at work. A titanium exhaust system with dual tailpipes ensures the revised powertrain delivers a soundtrack to match its intent.

Strengthened Chassis And Modern Suspension

The vehicle is built around the original Type 964 monocoque chassis, strengthened during the restoration process with composite and steel reinforcements. The result is increased torsional rigidity, improving both handling and ride refinement.

The dynamic package includes four-way adjustable dampers with electronic control and a nose lift system. Buyers also have the option of carbon-ceramic brakes, as well as sticky Michelin Pilot Sport performance tires. Furthermore, they have access to five drive modes (Road, Sport, Track, Off and Weather) to adjust the traction and stability control.

Singer will cap this service at 75 commissions worldwide. Pricing remains undisclosed and varies according to each owner’s specification, though the examples shown are almost certainly deep into seven figure territory.
