Dodge might not be building a new Viper right now, or anytime soon, but somehow fresh examples keep popping up in Stellantis’ annual sales figures years after production ended. And here we are again. There is another one for sale.
This one comes from Alberta, Canada, where the owner claims it has just 15 miles on the odometer. Not just any old Viper, either. It is a 2009 ACR (American Club Racer) Hardcore edition, which makes the find that much more intriguing.
A Factory Time Capsule
According to an ad shared on the Viper Club of America Facebook page, the sports car has never been registered, never received a pre-delivery inspection, and has apparently never touched a public road.
As one would expect, the original shipping plastics remain in place, and the window sticker is still mounted on the windshield. This is as close to rolling up to a Dodge dealer in 2008 as you can get.

When new, it would’ve made 600 horsepower (447 kW) and 560 lb-ft (759 Nm) of torque from its naturally aspirated 8.4-liter V10. Due to its age and track-focused character, it predates a lot of modern tech nannies, so forget about traction control or stability control.

The seller claims it has been sitting in climate-controlled storage since new and is asking $185,000. Normally we would bristle at a markup, but with an original MSRP just under $115,000, inflation does the heavy lifting and actually brings that figure to just over $174,000 in today’s money.
Plus, if everything checks out, the rarity of this car in genuine museum-quality condition is hard to argue with.
How Extreme Was Hardcore?
Back when the ACR was already a wildly fast lap-record-setting sports car, the Hardcore package stripped even more comfort out of it. Out went the A/C, radio, speakers, amplifier, trunk carpet, hood pad, and even the tire inflator, cutting 40 lb (18 kg).
In return, you got aero capable of generating up to 1,000 pounds of downforce at 150 mph (241 km/h), roughly ten times what a standard Viper SRT-10 produces at the same speed.
This beast wasn’t built for comfort or daily driving. It was made for carving apexes, and that also means that it’s very rare.
In 2009, Dodge only made 245 Viper ACR units, according to the seller. A smaller subset of those ended up with this Hardcore treatment. In other words, this is a very rare, very special, nearly new piece of American automotive history.

That said, it’s probably not roadworthy in its current condition. By now, plenty of the seals will need maintenance due to sitting without lubrication. Despite that, we expect someone will probably snap this up sooner rather than later and then trailer it to wherever they place it.
