• The Multivan gains a sharper face and new color options.
  • VW teases “many more updates” coming by late summer.
  • These will include a new infotainment system with a larger display.

Volkswagen offered a first glimpse of the facelifted Multivan T7, showing off a lightly reworked front end that now echoes the ID. Buzz, along with a fresh set of color options. This is only part of the story, though. The German brand is still keeping the more significant updates under wraps, especially inside the cabin, with those details set to arrive in late summer 2026.

The styling revisions are focused on the front, with a new bumper and more modern LED graphics for the headlights. The biggest change is the cooling intakes, dropping the honeycomb structure of the current model for a more conventional look. According to VW, the new grille and lower bumper intake emphasize the width of the passenger van.

The company has also introduced revised designs for six alloy wheels in 17- and 18-inch sizes, along with a lightly updated version of the 19-inch Halmstad wheels shown here, which VW says remain a popular choice among buyers.

Hidden Interior Revisions

The release did not include interior images, but VW made it clear that the Multivan will receive “many more updates until late summer,” prompting us to “stay tuned”.

According to an earlier teaser, the model will receive “significantly optimized interior solutions,” including a larger infotainment display with simpler and more intuitive menus. The same changes will also be applied to the California camper version of the T7, likely echoing the new software that has already been announced for the fully electric ID lineup – including the ID. Buzz.

The California Camper is also expected to benefit from the mid-lifecycle updates of the Multivan T7.

Under the skin, the MQB-based van is expected to maintain the AWD-capable PHEV option (1.5 TSI eHybrid 4Motion) introduced in late 2024. This setup combines a turbo 1.5-liter gasoline engine with dual electric motors, producing a combined 241 horsepower (180 kW / 245 PS). It also features a larger 19.7 kWh battery, delivering up to 95 km (59 miles) of electric-only range.

Other powertrain options will continue to include non-electrified gasoline and diesel engines, which may receive incremental updates, potentially including mild-hybrid assistance.

More details on the facelifted van are expected in the coming months.
