- US President Trump recently hosted more than 800 farmers at the White House.
- Fendt brought along a gold-wrapped tractor to the event, and Trump loved it.
- The event coincided with the launch of the government’s OnlyFarms website.
It’s no secret that US President Donald Trump has a long-standing fascination with gold. Over the past year alone, he’s rolled out the Trump Gold Card, commissioned a commemorative gold coin in his own likeness, added gold accents throughout the White House, and is even creating his own gold-colored smartphone.
So when a gold-wrapped tractor showed up on the White House’s South Lawn during a recent agricultural event, where he announced, among other things, new biofuel rules, it was almost inevitable it would catch his attention mid-speech. Spotting it from the podium, Trump appeared genuinely intrigued, quickly zeroing in on the machine as if it had been placed there just for him.

“A beautiful tractor … a gold tractor,” Trump said during the speech. “Somebody had me in mind. What’s that all about?” Do you mind if I step over here and just look at that tractor for a second? Because I assume it’s a gift to me.”
The Story Of The Gold Tractor
The tractor in question is the Fendt 1167 Vario MT, first unveiled at a show in early 2025. Since then, it has done more than just work fields, making its way across the U.S., including a stop at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., last August. It later rolled onto the White House grounds as part of the Great American Agriculture Celebration, trading farmland for a brief moment in the political spotlight.
Sitting at the top of the Fendt 1100 Vario MT Series, this machine is powered by a 16.2-liter, 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel from MAN. Output stands at 673 hp (495 kW) and a substantial 2,286 lb-ft (3,100 Nm) of torque, all routed through a CVT. Top speed is a modest 25 mph forward and 8.7 mph in reverse.
Pricing isn’t officially listed, but third-party listings suggest the range sits between $600,000 and nearly $1 million for new 2023–2024 examples.
Back at the White House event, which marked 250 years of American agriculture, Trump described it as the “single largest gathering of American farmers that the White House has ever seen.” The administration also launched a new website called OnlyFarms.gov, and no, it doesn’t feature scantily-clad farmers. Instead, it simply redirects to the official White House website, spruiking what the administration says it’s done to help the nation’s agricultural sector.
As for the tractor, Fendt didn’t gild it for presidential use. It’s there to highlight the brand’s Gold Star Customer Care program, which includes a three-year, bumper-to-bumper warranty on all new Fendt tractors. So while it made it to the White House lawn, it’s not about to come with a set of keys for the President.
