• Lego Technic has introduced a new Mustang GT set.
  • 973 piece toy comes with two swappable body kits.
  • It arrives on August 1st and will cost $99.99.

Lego has quietly introduced a new Ford Mustang GT. While that’s not terribly surprising, the latest set is interesting for having two different body kits.

Scheduled to arrive on August 1, the Custom Garage Ford Mustang GT is a Technic set that consists of 973 pieces and will take buyers on a “journey of creativity” thanks to its customization.

The standard car echoes the road-going Mustang GT and features a colorful exterior with blue and pink accents. The model also sports a roof-mounted knob that can be used to steer the vehicle. Other highlights include a hood that opens to reveal an eight-cylinder engine that apparently moves.

While that sounds pretty much straight out of the Lego Technic playbook, the set also includes 12 alternate components. Among them is a ram air hood, an aggressive front splitter, and a sizable rear wing. There’s also a sportier rear end, unique side skirts, and different doors with graffiti-inspired graphics. Lego said owners can mix and match components from both the stock and racing set to create a unique look.

The set is designed for ages 10 years and up, and will retail for $99.99. When built, the car measures approximately 10.5 inches (27 cm) long, 5 inches (13 cm) wide, and 3.5 inches (9 cm) tall. Lego also noted the set can be built with the Builder app, which “lets kids zoom, rotate in 3D, and track progress with easy-to-follow digital instructions.”
