- A one-off Ferrari built on a 328 GTS is heading to auction.
- Germany’s Michalak Design reshaped it without Ferrari’s blessing.
- Jay Leno gave the obscure concept a turn on his show.
Think you know your way around the Prancing Horse catalog? Then meet the Conciso, a one-off Ferrari that almost nobody has heard of, currently listed for sale in the United States. For collectors wanting to drive around in something that stands out even from multi-million-dollar hypercars, this is certainly one way to do it.
This vehicle started out life as a 328 GTS before the German outfit Michalak Design got hold of it and reshaped it into something else entirely. Ferrari had no hand in the conversion. The mechanical bones and the powertrain of the 328 GTS stayed put, but the body that wraps around them is a bespoke aluminum skin built to shed weight.
The Conciso made its public debut at the 1993 Frankfurt Motor Show, after which Michalak sold it to a collector in North America, where it stayed until 1998.

When that owner passed away, the car was sold to a Belgian collector before being returned to the United States in 2018. Throughout 2022 and 2023, it underwent a comprehensive restoration commissioned by the Italian firm Bacchelli & Villa. More than €50,000 ($57,100) has been spent on returning the Conciso to its former glory, including a complete repaint in the original shade of Rosso Corsa and Gunmetal Gray. In fact, the repainting itself cost more than €23,000 ($26,300).

That’s a serious amount of money to throw at a refresh, particularly when you consider the car was most recently sold at auction in 2018 for just $109,250. There’s no word on how much RM Sotheby’s expects the mid-engine model to sell for this time around, and since it’s being sold through the auction house’s Sealed platform, the sale price will not be published.

The Conciso’s aluminum diet leaves it tipping the scales at just 1,960 lbs (889 kg), roughly 800 lbs (363 kg) under the 328 GTS it’s based on and a fair bit south of a current Mazda MX-5 Miata, which carries about 2,341 lbs (1,062 kg).
The engine carries over untouched, but shedding that mass is enough to drop the 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint to an estimated 5 seconds and push the top speed to 170 mph (274 km/h). Padding out its résumé further, the car earned a spot on Jay Leno’s Garage back in 2019.
A 328 GTS that nobody can identify, a paint job worth more than a used Civic, and a cameo on cable TV. The Conciso has spent thirty years being the Ferrari that explains itself to strangers. Want to be the next one doing the explaining? Go poke at the listing here.
