Rivian is widening a recall first announced in June 2025, now saying thousands of R1S and R1T models left the line with front turn signal lamps that may not light up or flash. Owners will have to bring their vehicle back to a Rivian service center for the repair, which lands as the latest in a run of recalls the young automaker has worked through over the past year.
As Rivian laid out in last year’s recall, problems during the manufacturing of the turn signals can trigger an internal failure of the lamps themselves. Supplied by Myotek, these lamps went into the R1S built between June 12, 2024, and May 26, 2026, and into R1T models produced from October 1, 2024, through March 19, 2026, a span that covers a substantial chunk of both vehicles’ recent output.

The company says vehicles left out of last year’s recall use lamps that Myotek failed to quarantine properly. All told, 3,204 R1S models from the 2025-2026 model years are affected, along with 625 examples of the R1T, also covering 2025 and 2026. For all that, the automaker figures only 0.6 percent of recalled vehicles have the actual defect.
What Happens Next
As mentioned in the recall notice, non-functional turn signal lamps could increase the risk of a crash by making the driver’s intent to turn hard to determine. There have been no reports of crashes, injuries, or fatalities related to the fault.
A message on the driver display will alert drivers if one or more of the front turn signal lamps fail to illuminate, reading ‘Turn signal lights not working. Service it soon.’ Additionally, any turn signals that continue to function will start blinking at double speed, as will the turn signal sounds. Between June 2025 and July 2026, Rivian became aware of 17 instances of turn signal failure across the United States.
Rivian will alert R1S and R1T owners to the recall on or before September 29, noting that its service outlets will inspect and/or replace them as required.
