A shocking crash between a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and a Mercedes SUV has left three people injured in Upper Manhattan, but miraculously, no one was killed. According to local residents, the two vehicles may have been involved in street racing during the morning of the crash.

Security camera footage from the intersection at West 204th Street and Sherman Avenue shows both the Mercedes and the Chevy crossing at exactly the same time, but in different directions. The silver Corvette T-bones the side of the Mercedes, throwing it into the air while the Chevy spins around and slams into a pedestrian.

The Corvette only came to a stop after hitting a parked Fiat 500, pushing it into another Fiat 500 and sliding into the exterior wall of a local bodega. As for the black Mercedes-Benz, it was thrown into the air and landed on what appears to have been a parked Mazda CX-9, after which it rolled onto its side. CBS News reports the driver of the Mercedes fled the scene.

Three Hospitalized

Shocking footage taken in the immediate aftermath of the crash shows that both the driver and passenger of the Corvette were injured and bleeding after the devastating impact. It’s understood that both of them, as well as the pedestrian, were taken to hospital and all were in a stable condition.

Behind the wheel of the Corvette was a 27-year-old who was arrested at the hospital and charged with reckless driving, endangerment, and aggravated operation of a vehicle without a license. Some residents claim the Corvette had been driving recklessly through the neighborhood for more than an hour before the crash, although police have yet to confirm if this is true.
