If anything else, spy photographers have their work cut out with the new Toyota FT-86 sports coupe. As we are nearing closer to the launch of the production model, the Japanese automaker has increased its presence at the Nordschleife circuit in Germany to fine tune the chassis and mechanical hardware, with this latest scoop video showing a camouflaged prototype in action.
The car seen here will most likely end up being the European specification model fitted with Toyota badges. North America will get the FT-86 in the form of the Scion FR-S, which was recently previewed as a concept at the 2011 New York Auto Show.
The differences between the two models are believed to be limited to the exterior styling details, with both cars featuring the same rear-wheel drive platform and a more technologically advanced version of Subaru’s new 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine producing close to 200-ponies.
