If Ford is looking for a real life example to promote its “Built Ford Tough” marketing campaign, perhaps they should take a look at this incident that took place on the premises of the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada on Tuesday.

Carscoops reader Matus Burik happened to be walking outside the university when he saw a Ford F-150 pickup truck in a…low-rider mode sitting under a large dumpster that had just tipped over.

“I was walking in UBC, British Columbia during the morning hours and witnessed a weird accident and took few photos of it,” Burik told Carscoops. “It really interested me how bad that looked and sounded, but when I got closer, I saw that the Ford truck withstood that with ease, not even the windshield was cracked…”

According to our reader, two female workers had parked the Ford pickup truck next to the metal dumpster outside of a construction site, just before the mishap.

“Two traffic safety girls just pulled next to that dumpster and got out of the pickup truck just before that happened,” he said. “The truck driver started pulling that dumpster and it flipped over and landed on the Ford pickup truck (probably because of too much weight on one side). Safety girls were saying that this pickup truck was actually first day in use,” he added.

Now, if you’re wondering how the Ford may have escaped without a lot of damages from such an incident, these photos suggest that the container likely fell on one of the strongest structural parts of the car, the corner between the A-pillar and the windshield frame. Or at least that’s our two cents.

Many thanks to Matus Burik for the story and the photos!
