White Lexus LS 460 F-Sport Riding High on 22″ CVT Wheels

Is it safe to call the Lexus LS an “underrated” luxury car? It’s certainly sounds like it whenever we clamor over BMW’s 7 Series, Audi‘s A8, the Porsche Panamera and of course the Mercedes S-Class.

Take Europe for example where last year, Lexus sold just 239 LS models. Even Bentley and VW sold more Flying Spurs and Phaetons respectively. Hard to believe.

Still, this shouldn’t discourage us from saying a few good things about the LS, like the fact that it’s a very good looking car, with a modern and well-crafted interior. By the way, we love the 12.3″ LCD display as it really catches the eye.

Speaking of which, the F-Sport version does stand out more than the regular LS, but it’s all cosmetic – don’t expect a massive amount of HP under the hood of this LS 460.

What you should expect is a maximum output of 386 HP from the 4.6 liter V8 engine. It will still hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.4 seconds, which doesn’t sound like much in the world of AMG, but you’ll be generally satisfied with a ‘5 second’ full size limo.

As for the Vossen CVT wheels, we love the design, it’s just that we would have actually went down a size to 21″. But that’s just us.

Overall, the LS is still a beautiful car, and extremely comfortable regardless if you’re the driver or one of the passengers.

If it WAS more BMW or Mercedes or Audi like – it would be redundant. The LS is what it is and it shouldn’t be anything else.

Japanese luxury cars are not underrated they are under styled. Can you imagine if they concentrated on style like they did quality in the ’80s? The European marks would be out of business if LexusInfinityAcura made something as beautifully detailed as an Audi, but reliable enough to own when the lease expired.

Sir, there is nothing special about audi’s dull cars!

I don’t care for how low they dropped the suspension but otherwise i like the looks.

    • Hey Rigney, this car has a OEM air suspension and it can be lowered or raised quite a bit with the aftermarket module. I usually slam it for photoshoots!! Thanks

One big reason this car doesn’t sell in europe, and will not, is because it’s entire design is targeting the american market which is the complete 100% opposite to the european one.

In EU a car must look good, timeless, elegant, discrete, not “exciting”, not “bold”. It must be practical and useful, not bizarre like this one.

One of the absolutely best designed cars, ideal size and shape, practical, safe and also the #1 top seller is the vw golf, it’s simply not shouting “i need attention, look at me”, it just does its job and performs well year after year.
It’s small, fuel efficient, very economic, yet it doesn’t feel like that, it looks and feels like a larger and more expensive car. Also very few repairs, low taxes, good value when it’s traded in.
That’s what a car should look like and be like in eu, and that i know will puzzle the americans.

    This is what europeans prefer:

  • Thanks CarScoops! This is my 2014 LS F-Sport! It features a carbon fiber Skipper Design front lip, bumper garnish and rear diffuser along with a roof spoiler I had painted black and quad tips. The roof was painted black as well by Exclusive Motoring and the OEM 14″ Brembo brakes were replaced with 15″ Brembo GT Brakes. It does feature 22″ Vossen CVT on Pirelli Tires. Its the best car I’ve owned, the LS F-Sport is the first LS I ever considered owning. It also is the only LS with paddle shifters and a true mechanical LSD and all the usual F-sport bits (different front, rear bumpers, aluminum trim, pedals, sport seats, black escaine headliner etc etc).
