Ever since the BMW X6 won over SUV fans that wanted something more sporty, we all wondered when and how would Mercedes-Benz answer their rival.

Now we pretty much know everything there is to know about their “answer” – the GLE Coupe. We’ve seen the pics, we’ve analyzed the specs, we’ve watched the reviews and hopefully we get to drive it really soon too.

Until then, let’s listen to one of the world’s most talented race car drivers talk about the GLE Coupe, as well as about himself and F1 racing in general.

What’s obvious is that Lewis is very passionate about his driving. In fact, he’s one of the most talented people to ever race in Formula 1, so hearing what he has to say about regular everyday road cars is definitely fascinating.

He touches on the fact that the GLE Coupe is a sleek-looking SUV and that its rear sort of reminds you of the S-Class Coupe’s rear end – which it kind of does. He also says that it handles really well and that it looks better than the regular GLE, which is definitely true.

Rest assured though, saying only good things about Mercedes-Benz products is probably in Lewis’ contract with the team. It’s not like he was going to come out and complain about the rear seat headroom or lack of practicality.

That being said, the GLE Coupe should absolutely win us over (if it hasn’t already) as soon as we’ll start seeing it in traffic on a regular basis. And if it drives as well as Lewis and others have implied, we may end up forgetting all about the surprisingly underwhelming BMW X6.
