Tragedy struck a rally in Spain where a car veered off course and hit several spectators taking six lives. The death toll could rise as additional people (around sixteen more) are injured, and media outlets are reporting that a pregnant woman was among the deceased.
It occurred on Saturday, and the exact time of the crash was 8:00 PM local; the spot where it happened is just outside the Galician town of Carral during the local La Coruna rally.
The cause, according to preliminary reports, was linked to driver error as it was deemed that the car was going too fast to take the corner it was trying to take.
An investigation has been launched and since this is such a serious crash with a high number of victims, we will surely hear about the conclusion once it’s drawn.
The crash was caught on video, but it’s deeply disturbing and should be watched with caution – it is as brutal as you expect it to be.
