The official website for the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt has confirmed that the all-electric hatchback has a starting price of $37,500 prior to any tax rebates.

Following the generous $7,500 federal tax credit, as the Bolt is an EV,  the base price drops to $30,000. That comes despite the American automaker claiming that the new Bolt would be available for less than $30,000. Still, the $37,500 starting price is significantly less than the $43,350 MSRP for the BMW i3.

Before you rush out to order a new Bolt, keep in mind that Chevrolet has yet to fully detail the new car. At this stage, we know that it will have an all-electric range exceeding 200 miles on a full charge, but beyond that, not much is known about the powertrain.

Fortunately, a number of key details regarding the standard equipment of the 2017 Bolt has been released. For starters, the car comes complete with a 10.2-inch infotainment screen and an 8-inch digital gauge cluster. Thanks to the vehicle’s advanced computers, it is able to accurately determine the remaining range of the batteries by taking into account the weather, terrain and more.

More details about the car are expected to be released at next week’s Detroit Motor Show.
