Volvo Details Frugal XC90 T8 PHEV In New Gallery [192 Pics]

Volvo UK is preparing for the first deliveries of the XC90 T8 Twin Engine, releasing a new batch of photos detailing the 407hp and 49g/km SUV in its full glory.

That’s right; the new Volvo XC90 T8 is a hybrid SUV that produces some incredible figures, thanks to its advanced hybrid powertrain and the emissions test procedure that favors this type of vehicles.

The powertrain consists of a turbocharged/supercharged 320hp four-cylinder 2.0-litre petrol engine driving the front wheels and a rear-mounted 87hp electric motor driving the rear. Volvo has also installed a 25hp starter motor between the engine and the eight-speed automatic gearbox, filling with torque where necessary and smoothing the transition between driving modes.

Headline figures are a combine power output of 407hp, 472lb ft (640Nm) of combined torque, 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds, 26 miles of pure electric range and up to 134.5mpg UK of fuel economy, all in a practical package that seats seven.

The available driving modes include the default Hybrid, Pure Electric, Power, AWD and Save. The new Volvo XC90 T8 will go against vehicles like the BMW X5 xDrive 40e having a significant advantage over them, thanks to its class-leading figures.
