Infiniti To Debut Innovative V6 Petrol Engine In Their New SUV

As Infiniti moves forward in its attempt to be a serious player in the luxury car market, it has emerged that its market push will be spearheaded by a revolutionary new V6 engine.

Autocar says that this petrol-powered V6 engine will be the first of its kind to incorporate variable compression ratio technology to help it be as efficient as a regular diesel engine while offering the power and refinement of an advanced petrol engine.

In all probability, this engine will make its debut in a new crossover from the brand, possibly the next-generation QX50.

Tipped to hit the market in early 2018, this model will take design cues from the QX Sport Inspiration concept released earlier in the year at the Beijing Motor Show.

Beyond its refreshed design, the availability of this new V6 engine should help broaden the model’s appeal and make it a serious alternative to its German rivals. There’s a good chance that the new QX50 could also include autonomous driving technology.

Finally something cooking in their kitchen….

I think that comment is best saved for an Acura post.

I have always found it interesting how for the longest, the large majority of their products have actually been Rear Wheel Drive. So as a Luxury brand, they are actually in a very good place to be.

Now if they can design a car that looks as innovative as they claim the engine will be it might just save them.

Infiniti, bringing you melted Jello mold designs since ever.

It sucks because many of their concepts actually look great, but never turn out to be a reality. We’re finally starting to see that with the new Q60 Coupe and QX30, so hopefully that applies to their future models.

I’m hopeful for the next FX/QX70 more than anything because I liked the first gen and really liked the current one when it came out, it’s a very posh looking car so there is some potential for it, and if the next one looks anything like the Q60 coupe it’ll be very pretty, so there’s also a very good amount of hope there for it as well. I say all this because the QX70 would be the car to launch this engine in because they could parallel the “innovative engine” with a new “innovative design” rather than the next QX50 because it’s just not that special of a SUV.
