SsangYong is getting ready to replace the aging Rexton with a brand new model that is previewed by the LIV-2 Concept.

Stepping in the footsteps of the LIV-1 study exhibited three years ago at the Seoul Motor Show, the fresh Limitless Interface Vehicle (LIV) is the final concept of the Y400 development model and serves as a basis for the next generation Rexton that will be unveiled next year.

Not a lot is known on the prototype that will make its world debut on September 29, at 11:45 CET (5.45 AM EST) at the brand’s stand during the 2016 Paris Motor Show, but from what we can see in these official renderings, it carries a familiar design language to the LIV-1 and a boxy shape that seems to have been inspired by the smaller Tivoli.

The interior is said to be equipped “with a suite of advanced communication technologies” and, according to previous info, it should also get a fair share of leather, wood and chrome trim, along with numerous physical buttons that will sit alongside the touchscreen interface.

The Koreans are also providing a glimpse into the engine that powers the new LIV-2 Concept – a 2.2-liter diesel that is Euro 6 compliant, but also mention a newly-developed 2.0-liter GDi turbo petrol.
