Porsche may be skipping the next Detroit Auto Show, but it wasn’t about to sit out LA. Not when the California city represents its single largest market in the US. Little surprise, then, that the German automaker came out in force for this year’s Automobility show at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Not only did Porsche bring its full lineup to the Angelino expo, but it had some fresh metal to show off as well. And those new models in and of themselves represent the opposite ends of the Porsche spectrum.

In one corner, we have two new versions of the Panamera. There’s a new entry-level model, packing a 3.0-liter turbo V6 driving 326 horsepower through an eight-speed automatic transmission to either the rear wheels or all four. There’s also a new Panamera Executive model with a stretched wheelbase that could be the most luxurious Porsche ever devised.

In the other is the new 911 RSR – the racing version made to comply with GTE regulations and compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, European Le Mans Series, and Asian Le Mans Series.

Revised for 2017, the new RSR packs a 4.0-liter atmospheric boxer six ahead of the rear axle, kicking out 502 hp and glued to the tarmac with aggressive aero, a track-tuned suspension, gummy racing slicks, and all the usual competition fixin’s.

So there you have it: a more accessible sedan, a more luxurious one, and a racer. Short of a crossover (of which Porsche sells plenty), we could hardly imagine a more diverse array of Zuffenhausen’s finest. Maybe it’s time for a successor to the 918 Spyder.
