Ford Confirms New Bronco SUV For 2020, Ranger Truck For 2019

A new Ford Bronco is actually happening, as after many years of rumors, the Blue Oval officially confirmed the development of the SUV together with the return of the Ranger in North America at the Detroit Auto Show on Monday.

“We’ve heard our customers loud and clear. They want a new generation of vehicles that are incredibly capable yet fun to drive,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of The Americas. “Ranger is for truck buyers who want an affordable, functional, rugged and maneuverable pickup that’s Built Ford Tough. Bronco will be a no-compromise midsize 4×4 utility for thrill seekers who want to venture way beyond the city.”

The new iteration of the Bronco SUV will be added to Ford’s global vehicle portfolio in 2020, while the midsize Ranger pickup truck will join the brand’s North American lineup after a long hiatus in 2019. Both will be manufactured at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan.

The news on the Bronco and Ranger comes shortly after Ford announced 13 global electrified models planned for launch over the next five years, including the Mustang Hybrid, the F-150 Hybrid and the Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid.

fashionably late don’t pay the bills. They have lost out on money they could had made for the past few years.

OMG! I can’t wait to see what Ford has cooked up. Will it compete with the likes of the Wrangler?

If they are thinking Gen 1 Bronco’s, yes, all other versions, forget it. Which will it be?

I hope not! Ford already has the Explorer & Edge to occupy the mainstream segment. The Bronco I feel was and should be a niche market vehicle.

Agreed, this would be an epic failure if it looked anything like this. Subi-Rubicon1’s picture is spot on.

          • Six Thousand Times

Well, this isn’t a mainstream vehicle in the States. The Explorer and Edge are crossovers. The Everest is Ranger based with off road prowess.

SwingtimeInTheRockies, not sure what you’re point is?
The Everest isn’t available in the States. I know the Explorer and Edge are crossovers and that the Everest is Ranger based. In a nutshell, what I’m saying is, the Bronco shouldn’t look like the Everest or any other mainstream vehicle if Ford wants it to succeed.

You’ll want to think of it as something like a 4Runner competitor. Now, if you’re expecting anything like that old retro show car from what, 2006? Well, prepare for disappointment.

Here’s to hoping there’s a Bronco “Chase” edition, or Bronco “LA Freeway” edition with optional “Glove Don’t Fit” leather seats.

lmao whenever I heard bronco….oj simpson is always what I’m thinking of that XD

    • ErnieB
