The first prototypes of the new generation Dacia Duster may have just started hitting the streets, but development could be far more advanced than initially thought.

In fact, if a report from AutoAlgerie turns out to be correct, it should be officially unveiled on June 22, before making its public debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show this fall.

Coming to replace the current version, which has been around since 2010 and updated on a few occasions, the all-new Dacia Duster is expected to adopt an evolutionary design, with a similar boxy shape that will make it instantly recognizable.

We still don’t know for sure what platform it will use, but recent reports indicated that it could be based on Renault-Nissan’s CMF architecture, which also underpins the Renault Kadjar and Nissan Qashqai. A few updates will be made to the engine family too, although it’s not clear yet if we could be looking at entirely new powertrains coming from Renault, such as the 1.6-liter dCi diesel.

There will also be a version with a longer wheelbase that will accommodate up to 7 occupants, in three rows of seats, enlarging the Duster’s customer base.
