Elon Musk announced that the first 30 Tesla Model 3s will be delivered to their new owners on July 28 during a special ceremony.
Musk kept his promise on announcing the release date of the hotly anticipated Model 3, revealing a few more details at his Twitter page.
He said that their new entry-level model passed all the regulatory requirements for production two weeks ahead of schedule. The first customer cars are also delivered around six months ahead of initial expectations.
Tesla will ramp up Model 3’s production exponentially, planning to build 100 cars in August and more than 1,500 in September. The company expects to reach 20,000 cars per month in December.
The new Tesla Model 3 will be priced from $35,000 before incentives, and has already been ordered by around 500,000 customers. 0-60mph will come in 5.6 seconds while the driving range will be over 215 miles (346km).
First customers of the new Tesla will only be able to choose the car’s exterior color and wheel size, as the company focuses on ramping up the production capacity as soon as possible.
