2018 Hyundai Santa Fe – First Impressions Are In And They’re Positive

When designing the new generation Santa Fe, Hyundai decided to go with sharper front end styling, featuring a large “cascading” grille and a pair of “frowny” LED headlights. It’s a more aggressive look that seems to work even better in person, according to reviewers.

Both CarsGuide and CarAdvice were on location in South Korea recently, at the fourth-generation Santa Fe’s international launch, and from where we’re standing, it would seem the automaker managed to create a far superior product compared to its predecessor.

In fact, Matt Campbell of CarsGuide raved about the SUV’s refinement levels, the 8-speed automatic and punchy 2.0-liter diesel, good for 186 PS and 402 Nm (296 lb-ft) of torque. It was however the interior that was praised most, thanks to its high levels of quality, impressive tech features (digital gauge cluster, HUD etc) and active safety kit.

More of the same followed from Mike Costello from CarAdvice, who stated that the all-new Santa Fe is a “better offering than its predecessor in almost every way.” He also mentions how top spec models offer an overall feeling of luxury, which is definitely something we can appreciate in this segment, although we’re going to need to see some U.S. and EU specs and prices before we get too excited.

The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe stopped by this year’s Geneva Motor Show in European spec.
