If you are behind the helm of a driver-focused supercar like the Huracan Performante, it is only natural to put it in Corsa mode – and if you have confidence in your skills, switch all safety systems off.

The Performante might very well entice you in that behavior. Still, even though this particular example had less than 7,000 km (4,350 miles) on the clock (6,669 km / 4,144 miles to be precise) on the clock, something went terribly wrong.

This was being signaled by the engine oil pressure warning light, but it wasn’t enough to stop the driver from abusing the throttle.

Luckily, nothing went wrong during the filming of this video, so we have footage of an “awesome standing kilometer”, as the title says, with the most hardcore baby Lambo reaching a top speed of 287 km/h (178 mph).

With the Launch Control function activated, the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark was hit in about 8 seconds, while the Performante run from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3 seconds, just a tenth off the official time.

The naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 puts out 640PS (630hp / 470kW) and 600Nm (443lb-ft) and is mated to a dual-clutch seven-speed transmission. Flat-out, the Italian supercar will eventually max out at over 325km/h (202mph), courtesy of its active aerodynamics, weight reduction and clever engineering.
