The world was expecting Pininfarina to drop the veil off the PF0 at the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. And they did – but only in front of wealthy customers, in four days of private viewings.

Now that they have secured some deposits, they released the first official image of the hypercar concept.

It partially reveals the rear end, which features slim LED headlights sitting on what appears to be a two-part wing, a carbon fiber diffuser with large openings and the ‘Pininfarina’ logo sitting on top of the number plate.

“For a new car company, this US launch program was hugely challenging, exciting and ultimately rewarding. Our guests in Pebble Beach were classic and performance car aficionados and judged that the PF0 design delivered the right balance of beauty and functional performance visuals. They came to see classic Pininfarina and weren’t disappointed”, said Automobili Pininfarina CEO, Michael Perschke.

We guess that, at some point, the company will unveil the concept, though we’ll have to wait for the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, next March, to see the production car. Pininfarina says that the electric hypercar will be revealed during the Swiss automotive event in its final form and from there, it will return to Monterey Car Week in 2019. Production will start in Cambiano, Italy, where it will be assembled by hand, in 2020.

Beneath the carbon fiber exterior lies an electric powertrain, which Pininfarina claims enables the PF0 to accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h) in under two seconds, and reach a top speed in excess of 250 mph (402 km/h).

Despite those performance figures, the driving range is estimated at over 300 miles (483 kilometers) in between charges.
