When Chevrolet introduced the 2019 Camaro earlier this year, fans were split over the facelifted model’s new front fascia.

While the standard Camaro adopts a fairly conventional front end, the performance-oriented Camaro SS is distinguished by a big black bar and a flowtie. That design hasn’t go over well with fans and an unscientific poll of our readers found that a majority of people preferred the pre-facelift Camaro.

It appears the criticism hasn’t fallen on deaf ears as Chevrolet will introduce the Camaro SS Shock concept at SEMA later this month. The model is notable for more than its Shock yellow paint job as the concept has a revised front fascia with a painted bar and a repositioned bowtie badge.

While Chevrolet didn’t say much about the new front end treatment, GM Authority is reporting the company is rushing to get the new design into production. While nothing is official, the report suggests sluggish sales are to blame.

That seems a bit premature as the 2019 Camaro recently began arriving at dealerships. However, the publication says “the take rate and interest in the vehicle has said to have dropped.”

Styling is always subjective, but a number of our readers have already said the concept’s front end treatment is better than the one used on the production model. It’s hard to disagree with them as we’re not fans of the styling updates on either the Camaro or the Mustang.

In remains unclear when the updated Camaro could arrive, but an announcement could be made at SEMA. The show kicks off on October 30th and a number of companies have already previewed an assortment of customized models for the event.
