The Forease Concept isn’t Smart’s only premiere at the 2018 Paris Auto Show, as the Daimler-owned brand has a special edition of the ForTwo on display as well.

It’s called the Smart ForTwo PureBlack Edition and, just like its name says, it’s differentiated by the matte black look, which, in this case, is contrasted by high-gloss black and red bits. The exterior is highlighted by the hand-finished grille, 16-inch black alloy wheels and ‘Edition PureBlack’ badging.

Inside, Smart’s designers have fitted the city car with black leather, red perforations and topstitching, sports steering wheel wrapped in leather, and more of the fine material used on the shift lever. Elsewhere, the Smart ForTwo PureBlack Edition gets a red 12 o’clock marking, too, ‘Edition PureBlack’ logo and black velour floor mats.

Standard gear present includes the Comfort, Stowage Space and LED & Sensor packages, as well as the Cool & Media package with large display, and the heated seats, automatic climate control, panoramic roof with integrated sunblind and load compartment cover.

Powering the special edition city car is an 898cc or a 999cc petrol engine, producing 90 PS (89 hp / 66 kW) and 135 Nm (100 lb-ft) of torque, and 71 PS (70 hp / 52 kW) and 91 Nm (67 lb-ft) of torque, respectively.

Smart is also offering it as an EQ, with an electric motor, with a maximum output of 82 PS (80 hp / 60 kW) and 160 Nm (118 lb-ft) of torque. This version is differentiated by the EQ badges added at the front and rear.

The 2019 Smart ForTwo PureBlack Edition will be available to order in the coming months, says the automaker, with customer deliveries to commence next year.
