Canada’s Campagna Motors, the company responsible for the recognizable T-Rex three-wheeler, has officially closed its doors.

The manufacturer filed for bankruptcy protection in early August 2018 and at the time, stated that it wasn’t liquidating any assets during the process and simply discharging debt and re-structuring its finances with creditors but the truth seemed less hopeful.

In a somber Facebook post just published, former Campagna president Andre Morissette said that the company couldn’t find the necessary funding to survive.

“Today marks the end of Campagna Motors as we know it,” he wrote.

“Because we were not able to secure the appropriate funding to secure our proposal to creditors accepted this last November, the bank decided to secure its position and took ownership of our assets today.”

While confirming the demise of Campagna, Morissette expressed hope that the brand may survive into the future and could continue to produce out-of-the-box products.

“I am hopeful that the next owners of this venture will continue to innovate and create the exceptional product that we have been making since 1988,” he added.

Campagna was founded in Quebec by F1 mechanic Daniel Campagna and car designer Paul Deutschman. The T-Rex was built for almost three decades.

Campagna had been preparing to adapt to the world of electrification and said in 2018 that it was developing a three-wheeled roadster with an electric powertrain from Zero Motorcycles. Testing of the vehicle was scheduled to commence in the summer.
