The MG ZS EV crossover seems to be off to a good start in the UK, as the SAIC-owned automaker has announced it has already received 2,000 orders in the two months since the car’s launch.

To keep the momentum going, MG says it will continue to match the government’s £3,500 Plug-in Car Grant on the range-topping Exclusive trim level, while also offering a £3,000 grant for the base Excite model. The offer applies to the next 1,000 customers.

Including the grants from the government and MG, the ZS EV Exclusive starts from £23,495 (approximately $29,275) while the base Excite trim level can be had for £21,995 ($27,390).

“Since the official launch of the ZS EV in July, MG dealerships across the country have reported unprecedented demand from customers eager to get behind the wheel,” said Daniel Gregorious, Head of Sales & Marketing at MG Motor UK. “We have listened to all of the positive feedback and are delighted to offer this fully electric family SUV to the next 1,000 retail buyers from just £21,995,” he added.

The MG ZS EV offers a 163-mile (262-km) driving range thanks to a 44.5-kWh water-cooled, lithium-ion battery pack that can be replenished to 80 percent in about 30 minutes using a fast charger. The electric crossover is powered by a front-mounted electric motor delivering 141 HP (143 PS) and 260 lb-ft (353 Nm) of torque.

Sttandard specification for the base ZS EV Excite includes 17-inch alloys, an eight-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and DAB radio, as well as the MG Pilot safety suite that bundles driver aids such as Advanced Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control.
