Most of the time, it’s anyone’s guess which of the two (or more) cars is going to cross the finish line first in a drag race, but that’s not the case here, as Hennessey wanted to reveal the huge gap between the stock Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R and their tuned example.

Equipped with the HPE850 package, which includes a 3.0-liter supercharger and numerous modified or new internals, the muscle car boasts a whopping 858 horsepower at 7,700 rpm and 673 pound-feet (912 Nm) of torque at 4,600 rpm, on 93-octane gasoline. From rest to 60 mph (0-96 km/h), it needs just 3.3 seconds, and can run the quarter-mile in 10.8 seconds at 133 mph (214 km/h), according to the tuner.

The stock ‘Stang is no slouch to begin with, with its 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 pumping out 527 hp at 7,500 rpm and 429 lb-ft (582 Nm) at 4,750 rpm. It also rocks aerodynamic updates and weight improvements with the standard carbon fiber wheels, front splitter and rear wing, and removal of the rear seat. The 2020MY features redesigned front suspension geometry with high-trail steering knuckle, which comes from the new GT500, new steering rack and recalibrated power steering control.

Now, to make sure that the driver factor doesn’t affect the result, the drivers swapped cars after a couple of rolling races, from 3rd and 2nd gear, at the Pennzoil Proving Grounds, but the tuned ‘Stang was still way quicker than the stock one. Be warned; if you own a Mustang V8, you may want to supercharge it after watching this video…
