A 2000 Aston Martin Vantage Le Mans V600 ordered new by Sheikh Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al Thani, the eldest son of the eighth Emir of Qatar, is tipped to sell for between $375,000 and $425,000 when it hits auction block by RM Sotheby’s in Amelia Island on March 6-7.

The British automaker produced the vehicle in question to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the marque’s victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the DBR1/2. Modifications made to the car were comprehensive.

Most notably, it features a potent 5.3-liter V8 engine with two M90 Eaton superchargers and delivers no less than 600 hp, a figure that is still mighty impressive two decades later. Such extraordinary grunt allowed the Vantage to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in roughly 3.9 seconds, 100 mph (160 km/h) in ten seconds, and a top speed of 200 mph (320 km/h).

Numerous changes were also made to the car’s exterior. For example, it features a revised front fascia with enlarged cooling ducts to improve downforce while also sitting on bespoke wheels and featuring a striking rear fascia with quad tailpipes. Inside, standard parts included perforated foot pedals, an aluminium gear knob, and brushed metal panels in place of the wood veneers found on lesser Vantage models.

Al Thani commissioned his Vantage Le Mans V600 to be finished in Aston Martin Racing Green with an ex-Works interior trimmed in Green and Magnolia leather with Dark Green carpeting. In addition, the sheikh ordered hand-stitched Al Thani royal family crests to be emblazoned on the rear seats, gearshifter, and owner’s manual.

The royal family owned the car until 2008 when it was sold to a private museum in Japan. It was imported to the U.S. on Show or Display exemption in 2017 and is the 38th of just 40 units built and one of just 22 made in left-hand drive. It has just under 11,806 miles (19,000 km) on the clock.
