Looking at this Chevrolet Colorado from the outside, you could be forgiven for thinking it features a standard powertrain and is simply sitting on a set of aftermarket wheels and mud-terrain tires. However, this Colorado is far more impressive than that.

Aftermarket experts Lingenfelter are no strangers to performing wild engine swaps and that’s exactly what they have done with this Colorado. The pickup, despite its relatively benign-looking exterior, is rocking GM’s 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 engine, previously used by the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Camaro ZL1, and the Cadillac CTS-V. It’s an absolutely manic powertrain and slots into the engine bay of the Colorado with ease.

Lingenfelter could have easily dropped in an LT4 and called it a day but instead, the engine is now rocking the tuner’s own LT4 supercharger pulley kit. Among the modifications made include a new 9.2 15% overdrive supercharger drive damper pulley, pulley fasteners, new supercharger belt, 100 mm idler kit, low restriction air filter, a new crankshaft bolt, and some software work.

Mated to the engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels and when running on the dyno, the car pumped out a total of 534 hp and 526 lb-ft (713 Nm) of torque, incredible figures for a pickup like this.

Those who want to own a pickup with remarkable performance but not willing to venture into the aftermarket should keep their eyes peeled for the forthcoming Ram 1500 Rebel TRX. This rival to the Ford F-150 Raptor is due to feature FCA’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 ‘Hellcat’ engine with no less than 707 hp.
