Two of the hottest sports cars of the moment, the McLaren 600LT and Porsche 911 GT2 RS, met at the Pennzoil Proving Grounds to solve their differences over a few drag races.

Before moving on to the footage from Hennessey, it’s worth noting that the British model is not stock, as according to the tuner, it features “downpipes and a tune”.

Luckily, we didn’t have to dig up the specs, as they were right there: 708 horsepower and 635 pound-feet (861 Nm) of torque that come courtesy of the HPE700 program. This includes high-flow air filters, stainless steel exhaust, ECU recalibration and other baked in stuff. The result is a mere 2.6 seconds for the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h), and just 10.5 seconds for the quarter mile run with an exist speed of 139 mph (224 km/h).

In case you needed reminding, the stock 600LT’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 pushes out 592 HP and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque. Nought to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) is dispatched in 2.8 seconds and top speed stands at 204 mph (328 km/h).

As for the one they call ‘The Widow Maker’, the Lone Star State tuner claims that it’s bone stock. This means that the pinnacle of the previous-gen 911 series packs 690 HP and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm), produced by the 3.8-liter flat-six engine. From rest to 60 mph (0-96 km/h), the 911 GT2 RS needs only 2.7 seconds, and flat out, it will do 211 mph (340 km/h).

This puts the tuned 600LT and stock 911 GT2 RS very close to each other, so which one do you think was quicker in a straight-line acceleration? This would be a good time to place a little bet, before scrolling down to the video.
