VW T-Roc Cabriolet: High-Riding Golf Convertible Successor Overexposed In 325 Photos, Videos

Volkswagen wants to draw attention to its newest convertible, the T-Roc Cabriolet, which will have its official market launch in Germany and other European markets from March 20.

The automaker does that by releasing the mother lode of all photo galleries (325 of them to be exact), as well as detailed videos featuring the T-Roc Cabriolet’s two trim levels.

Compared to the regular T-Roc, the convertible version ditches the rear doors and the fixed roof, adopting a fully automated soft top instead. VW is proud of the fact the top opens in just nine seconds, even when traveling at speeds of up to 30 km/h (18.6 mph).

Unsurprisingly, the T-Roc Cabriolet is less practical than its fixed-roof sibling, offering a boot capacity of 280 liters (9.9 cu ft), regardless of whether the soft top is open or closed. Still, it comes with folding rear seat backrests and optional towing bracket.

The drop-top compact SUV will be offered in Style and R-Line grades, with the former adopting a more subtle body kit while the latter goes for a sportier approach. The T-Roc Cabriolet Style comes equipped as standard with 17-inch Mayfield alloy wheels, white ambient lighting, air conditioning, lane keeping system Lane Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking Front Assist, Driver Alert System, Composition radio system and much more.

Riding in the back of the T-Roc Cabriolet will require a leap of faith for most adult passengers

The R-Line model adds stuff like unique bumpers, sports running gear, sports seats covered with fabric and leatherette, progressive steering and driving mode selection as standard. Both trim levels offer 17-inch alloys as standard, but 18- and 19-inch rims are available at extra cost. Key optional extras include the Digital Cockpit and the top-of-the-line “Discover Media” Infotainment system.

Customers can choose between two gasoline engines for their T-Roc Cabriolet. The base unit is a 1.0-liter TSI turbocharged three-pot making 115 PS (113 HP) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque, paired exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox. The second choice is a 1.5-liter TSI turbo-four rated at 150 PS (148 HP) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque, offered with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Unlike the T-Roc SUV, the Cabriolet does not offer the option of a 4Motion AWD system.

Prices in Germany start from €27,495 ($31,070) for the Style model and €32,810 ($37,070) for the R-Line variant; in the UK, prices start from £26,750 and £31,920, respectively.
